    University, Graduates Set To Cap Off Year at Fall Commencement

    Last fall, Gracious George, who graduated with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, celebrated after his commencement ceremony. The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science will hold two ceremonies for fall commencement on Wednesday, Dec. 18, starting at 9 a.m.

    December marks a special milestone for graduates at The University of Texas at Dallas, as the campus honors its newest alumni in its 50th Anniversary celebration year during seven fall commencement ceremonies Dec. 16-18 in the Activity Center.

    Fall 2019 Commencement Fun Facts. More than 2,700 graduates. Most popular degrees: bachelor's - computer science, psychology, accounting; master's - computer science, business analytics, information technology and management; doctoral - computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering.     More than 2,700 degrees are expected to be awarded, including 1,545 bachelor’s degrees and 1,105 master’s degrees. Seventy-nine doctoral degrees have been certified.

    About 2,750 students are expected to participate in the various commencement ceremonies, including more than 460 graduates who earned their degrees during the summer.

    The festivities will begin Monday morning, Dec. 16, with the Doctoral Hooding Ceremony, a special event for family, peers and faculty mentors to honor doctoral recipients for their achievements.

    That afternoon, two commencement ceremonies will recognize students expected to earn degrees from six of the University’s eight schools. The first session will recognize 72 students from the School of Arts and Humanities, 280 from the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences, and 86 from the School of Interdisciplinary Studies. The second session will honor 124 students expected to earn degrees from the School of Arts, Technology, and Emerging Communication, 146 from the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences, and 199 from the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

    Three commencement ceremonies on Tuesday, Dec. 17, will accommodate 1,164 students expected to earn degrees from the Naveen Jindal School of Management, the largest school at UT Dallas.

    The final two ceremonies on Wednesday, Dec. 18, will recognize a total of 658 expected graduates from the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science.

    Immediately after each commencement ceremony, the graduates and their supporters are invited to Memories on the Mall for refreshments, photo opportunities and giveaways. The tradition welcomes new graduates into the alumni community and offers an opportunity to reflect on their experiences at UT Dallas.
